I can’t believe New York Fashion Week FW 2020 has come and gone so quickly (watch what happened this season here!) Every NYFW, it has been my tradition to attend the Self-Portrait show to support my dear friend, Han Chong.
For his show this season, I decided to play around with the Self-Portrait knit top (similar here) and faux leather shorts (similar here) with more textures. You’ll notice that I also mixed different textures in my previous fashion week looks here. I really love mixing textures because it gives a simple outfit extra dimension and character. Here are my tips for mixing textures:

Decide on a color story For my Self-Portrait look, I went for a warm and earthy palette. You may not consider wearing snakeskin boots with a fur coat and leather shorts but since it is within the same tone – it works!

Manage proportions Play around with your proportions as you would with textures! For this look, I wore my chunky Max Mara Teddy Coat and balanced it out with a form-fitting knit top.

My last tip is to have fun and be bold! Bring out your creativity and put unexpected and eclectic textures together.
