7 Books We Are Reading This Winter

We hope you are enjoying this wonderful time of the year with your loved ones. If you find yourself having some free time during the holidays, or if reading more is one of your New Year’s resolutions in 2020, we have 7 book recommendations for you to start the new year with.

1. Educated by Tara Westover

This harrowing memoir of a child’s strength and perseverance is incredible. You have to remind yourself that you are reading non-fiction as it can read like a wild fiction story line. I hope they adapt this one for the big screen!

2. Modern Love by Daniel Jones

A huge fan of the NY Times column, podcast and now Amazon Prime series starring Tina Fey, this is an easy and heartfelt read about love, loss and redemption.

3. Three Women by Lisa Taddeo

Be prepared to have your emotions stirred, your heart ache and many other emotions arise as you read three true stories of female desire.

4. Know My Name by Chanel Miller

I followed this case in the news in 2016 and am happy to be able to read first hand the heart wrenching story of a victim of sexual assault. Chanel looks to reclaim her name in the light of the media attention and tell the tumultuous journey she endured over the course of a four year court case. I hope this story gives love and support to those who have experienced similar circumstances.

5. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

Because I love a classic and the new adaption for the silver screen comes out Dec 25th! So refresh your memory of the Marsh sisters before watching Timothee Chalamet steal our hearts in the movie.

6. Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

This was one book I finished in a few days over a long weekend. It tugs all of the heart strings – family, fear, love, acceptance and loneliness. A paper turner perfect for the long holiday break!

7. I Feel Bad About My Neck, And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman by Nora Ephron

We could all use a little light hearted laughter, these witty and amusing short stories are a breeze to read and remind you to not take it all too seriously.
