Where Fashion Insiders Go During PFW

September 25, 2018 - 22 Comments

Paris Fashion Week starts tomorrow, so I wanted to give you guys a little behind the scenes tour of some go-to restaurants and neighborhoods fashion insiders hang out at during fashion week. I made my own guide to my favorite places to go to during New York Fashion Week, so for Paris, I wanted to ask some of my local Parisian friends and frequent Paris visitors where they like to hang out between shows. A while back, I wrote a post about my favorite avocado toast in Paris, so I thought it would be fun to let you guys in on some other great restaurants and cafes in Paris. I feel like there is so much emphasis on fashion and the collections during fashion week, so I thought it would be fun to show you guys the other side of Paris Fashion week, including food and cool neighborhoods. I asked my friend Gary Pinagot who works in PR for Dior, and my friend and fellow blogger, Bryan Boy about their favorite Paris hotspots.Gary is a Paris local. He has a very personal understanding of so many amazing spots that most people wouldn’t know about. Bryan boy is on the of OG bloggers, and has been going to Paris for fashion week for ten plus years. He knows the best spots to hang out in during fashion week, and also gives an inside look into what it’s really like to make it all work during the craziness of fashion week.

What’s the best neighborhood in Paris you like to hang out in?

Gary: Canal Saint Martin. It’s a beautiful neighborhood along the Seine where you can walk around, people watch, and sit for a while and enjoy a coffee.

Bryan Boy: My favorite neighborhood is the 16th Arrondisment. I rented an apartment the first time I went to Paris alone, away from my family and friends. I have beautiful memories in Passy! It’s a residential area with virtually no tourists and it’s so pretty there – it’s right beside the Seine!

What’s your go-to cafe in Paris?

Gary: I love Cafe Kitsuné because you can hang out inside the Palais-Royal, which is a former royal palace. It’s so beautiful because so much of the original architecture is preserved, and there are so many gardens to walk around in.

Bryan Boy: I love good ol’ Cafe Castiglione. I always get an outdoor table and it’s the best spot for a bottle of rosé and people watching.

Where is your favorite place to grab a quick bite between shows during fashion week?

Bryan Boy: In between shows, I like to go back to my hotel for a quick bite. I love Asian food, [but sitting down at] a restaurant or cafe is impossible because of the grueling schedule. There’s not enough time! What I usually do whenever I’m hungry is that I order food via Uber Eats as soon as I exit a show so they’ll deliver it to my hotel whenever I get there!

What’s the best place in Paris to go to on a first date?

GaryHôtel Grand Amour! It has such a gorgeous interior design and mixes really quirky art with more elegant decor.

Lastly, I wanted to list a few of my favorite local spots in Paris. For a quick healthy bite, I always go to Cojean. It’s a French chain restaurant, but they always have the best fresh juices, smoothies, and fruit bowls which are great for being healthy on-the-go during fashion week. For healthy snacks, I love going to Wild and the Moon.

This restaurant definitely has an L.A. vibe, and is great for healthy snacks and smoothies. For dinner, I love James Bún. It’s a French Vietnamese restaurant that I go to every time I’m in town for fashion week. I always order the Salmon Bobun. It’s a Vietnamese cold noodle dish and it’s delicious. I also love going to the Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen flea market. I’ve gotten some amazing finds here: everything from beautiful art and jewelry to home decor and furniture. Also, Crazy Horse Paris is such a cool place to go to for a night out! My friend Edouard Schneider, the global communications director of Acne Studios, brought me to Crazy Horse during one fashion week. It’s a Parisian cabaret show, and it’s definitely worth checking out.
