I’m so excited that fall is finally here! For the next couple of months you can find me eating every fall treat in sight and wrapping up in the chicest outerwear and coziest sweaters. However, my absolute favorite part of this season is having an excuse to wear boots every single day (alright, maybe there’s always an excuse to wear a great pair of boots…). Still, in my ten years of blogging, I’ve found that boots are the one item that can really elevate an entire outfit and make you feel totally put together. There are so many different boot styles out there right now, but don’t worry: I’ve made it easy and narrowed it down to the only 4 boot trends you’ll need this season:
Heeled Ankle boots
Ankle boots are a staple in my closet because I wear them all year round. However, I especially like them for fall and winter, because you can easily pair them with jeans or a chic midi skirt. When choosing ankle boots, I always opt for heeled ones, because I find that the flat ones make my legs look shorter. To elongate my silhouette, I always go for ones that cut off right above my ankles. It’s not as flattering if they cut off at mid-calf, because that’s the biggest part of your leg. Last fall, I pretty much rotated through my Joseph snakeskin ankle boots (similar here), Celine nude ankle boots (similar here), and Frye brown suede ankle boots every day! The next ankle boots ‘m planning on buying are ones with a metal or lucite heel; I love this unique take on the classic ankle boot:
I feel like I don’t need to further introduce cowboy boots as you’ve probably seem me wearing them nonstop during New York Fashion Week. It’s a fun trend to try out during the fall, and it’s totally worth the investment. Everyone will be wearing them well into the spring – especially during Coachella.
Go west this season and add a pair of cowboy boots to your everyday essentials.
Other than my Zimmerman snakeskin cowboy boots and my Chloe cowboy boots (which are 50% off right now!) I actually bought most of my cowboy boots from Zappos and Shopbop. I spent all night online shopping making sure I found ones that are the best quality-price-match. Here are my top finds:
I also love wearing knee-high boots. My trick to finding the perfect pair of knee-high boots is to find ones that cut off right below my knee, and I prefer them slightly slouchy rather than tight-fitting. The slouchy look is a super easy way to feel relaxed and fashion-forward at the same time. Right now, my go-to fall uniform includes these Gianvito Rossi Nude Knee High Boots (affordable here), jeans, and a classic camel coat.
On the warmer fall days, I like to pair dresses with hiking boots. I love the juxtaposition of feminine dresses against the chunkiness of the boots; it’s such an easy way to add that little something special to your look without trying super hard. My favorite ones are these combat boots from Frye, and I also like these from Dr. Martens. Here are a few other pairs I’m into right now:
